Privacy Policy
Translocal — Offline Translation App Effective Date: March 23, 2026
1. Our Privacy Commitment
Translocal is designed with a privacy-first, offline-first architecture. Your translations, text inputs, voice recordings, and images are processed entirely on your device. We do not collect, transmit, store, or have access to any of your personal data or translation content.
2. Information We Do NOT Collect
- ❌ No personal data — No name, email, phone number, or account required
- ❌ No translation content — Your text, voice, and image inputs never leave your device
- ❌ No usage analytics — We do not track how you use the App
- ❌ No crash reporting — We do not use Firebase Crashlytics or similar services
- ❌ No advertising identifiers — No ad SDKs or tracking pixels
- ❌ No location data — The App does not access your location
- ❌ No device fingerprinting — No unique identifiers are transmitted externally
- ❌ No cookies or web tracking — The App has no web views that track you
3. On-Device Processing
All core features run locally on your device:

4. Internet Permission & Network Usage
The App requests the INTERNET permission solely for:
- Downloading ML Kit language packs (15–30 MB per language pair) from Google’s servers
- Downloading AI model files (2–4 GB) from Hugging Face model repositories
Once downloaded, these resources are stored locally and all processing occurs offline. No user-generated content (text, voice, images) is ever transmitted over the network.
5. Device Information Accessed Locally
The App reads the following device information locally to optimize performance. This information is never transmitted:
- RAM capacity — to determine which AI model sizes your device can support
- CPU architecture and core configuration — to optimize inference thread allocation
- Available storage — to show you if sufficient space exists for model downloads
6. Permissions Used

The App does not request permissions for: camera, microphone (unless ASR is used, and content stays on-device), contacts, location, storage (uses app-private storage only), or phone state.
7. Data Storage
All App data is stored in the app’s private directory on your device:
- Language packs — managed by ML Kit in app-private storage
- AI model files — stored in the app’s internal files directory
- Preferences — stored locally via Android SharedPreferences
Uninstalling the App removes all associated data from your device.
8. Third-Party Services
Google ML Kit (On-Device)
ML Kit language packs are downloaded from Google servers. Google’s download infrastructure may log standard server request metadata (IP address, request timestamps). The translation itself is performed entirely on-device. See Google’s Privacy Policy.
Hugging Face (Model Downloads)
AI model files are downloaded from Hugging Face repositories. Hugging Face’s servers may log standard download metadata. No user content is sent to Hugging Face. See Hugging Face Privacy Policy.
No third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs are integrated into the App.
9. Children’s Privacy
The App does not collect any personal information from any user, including children under 13. Since no data is collected, no special provisions for children’s data are necessary. The App complies with COPPA and equivalent regulations by design.
10. Data Security
Since no user data is collected or transmitted, the primary data security concern is the integrity of files on your device. The App uses SHA-256 hash validation to verify the integrity of all downloaded model files, ensuring they have not been tampered with or corrupted during download.
11. Your Rights
Since we collect no personal data, there is no data to access, correct, delete, or port. Your translations and inputs exist only on your device under your control. You may delete all App data at any time by uninstalling the App or clearing App data in Android Settings.
12. International Users
The App processes all data locally on your device regardless of your geographic location. No data crosses international borders. GDPR, CCPA, and equivalent privacy regulations are satisfied by default since no personal data is collected or processed by us.
13. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy periodically. Changes will be reflected by an updated “Effective Date” at the top of this document. Continued use of the App constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
