Translocal — Offline Translation App Effective Date: March 23, 2026

1. Acceptance of Terms

By downloading, installing, or using Translocal (“the App”), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service (“Terms”). If you do not agree, do not use the App.

2. Description of Service

Translocal is a fully offline translation application for Android. The App provides:

  • Text translation using on-device ML Kit models and an optional on-device large language model (TranslateGemma 4B)
  • Optical character recognition (OCR) for image-based text extraction
  • Speech recognition and text-to-speech capabilities
  • Transliteration between writing systems
  • Downloadable language packs and AI models for offline use

All core translation features operate entirely on your device without transmitting data to external servers.

3. Eligibility

The App is available to users of all ages. No account creation or personal information is required to use the App.

4. License Grant

We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the App for personal, non-commercial purposes, subject to these Terms.

5. User Responsibilities

You agree to:

  • Use the App only for lawful purposes
  • Not reverse-engineer, decompile, or disassemble the App beyond what applicable law permits
  • Not redistribute, sublicense, or commercially exploit the App
  • Not attempt to extract or repurpose the bundled AI models outside of the App

6. Downloadable Content

The App allows you to download:

  • ML Kit language packs (15–30 MB per language pair) for baseline translation
  • TranslateGemma 4B AI model files (2–4 GB depending on quantization) for enhanced translation

These downloads require an internet connection. Once downloaded, all processing occurs entirely offline on your device. You are responsible for ensuring sufficient storage space on your device.

7. Device Compatibility

The App requires:

  • Android 13 (API 33) or higher
  • 64-bit ARM processor (arm64-v8a)
  • Minimum 4 GB RAM for basic features; 6–12 GB RAM recommended for AI model functionality

Features are conditionally enabled based on your device’s hardware capabilities. The App will not crash on unsupported devices but may disable certain features.

8. Intellectual Property

The App, its design (“Digital Sanctuary” design system), and all associated code and assets are the intellectual property of HelloThere World. The TranslateGemma model is provided under Google’s applicable model license. ML Kit components are subject to Google’s terms of service.

9. Disclaimer of Warranties

THE APP IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. We do not warrant that:

  • Translations will be accurate, complete, or error-free
  • The App will be uninterrupted or free of bugs
  • AI model outputs will meet your specific requirements

Translation outputs—whether from ML Kit or the on-device LLM—are machine-generated and should not be relied upon for legal, medical, safety-critical, or professional purposes without independent verification.

10. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, HelloThere World shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the App, including but not limited to inaccurate translations, data loss, or device performance issues.

11. Third-Party Components

The App incorporates the following third-party components, each subject to their own licenses:

  • llama.cpp — MIT License
  • Google ML Kit Translation — Google Terms of Service
  • TranslateGemma — Google model license
  • ICU (International Components for Unicode) — Android platform component

12. Modifications to the App and Terms

We reserve the right to modify, update, or discontinue the App at any time. We may update these Terms periodically. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

13. Termination

We may terminate or suspend your access to the App at any time, without notice, for conduct that we believe violates these Terms or is harmful to other users or the App.

14. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of India, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.
